How to make any song a ringtone on Android
Android lets you use any MP3 as your ringtone. The fiddly part is cutting exactly the part of the song you want. Here is the quickest way, with nothing to install.
Step 1: trim the song with SnipRing
- Open snipring.com in Chrome and tap Choose a song or video.
- SnipRing finds the chorus for you. Change the start and length if you like.
- Tap Create ringtone, then Download MP3. It saves to your Downloads folder.
Step 2: set it on Samsung
- Settings → Sounds and vibration → Ringtone.
- Tap + at the top.
- Pick the file from Downloads and tap Done.
Step 2: set it on Pixel and stock Android
- Settings → Sound & vibration → Phone ringtone.
- My sounds → +.
- Pick the file and tap Save.
Xiaomi and other phones
The menus are similar: search Settings for ringtone, open it, and choose a file from your device (sometimes called "local sound" or "choose from files").

Frequently asked questions
Can I use a song from Spotify or YouTube Music?
No. Streaming songs are copy-protected (DRM). You need a file you own, such as an MP3 you bought or recorded.
How long can an Android ringtone be?
There is no hard limit, but a phone usually rings for about 30 seconds. SnipRing allows up to 29.5 seconds, so the same file also works on iPhone.
I can't find the file I downloaded
Open the Files app (My Files on Samsung) → Downloads. The file has the name you gave it in SnipRing.
Is my song uploaded?
No. All trimming happens in your browser, on your phone. The song is never sent to a server.
